Description: CHESTERFIELD TWP., MI – People can show their support of American troops by donating items or volunteering to pack gift boxes that will be shipped overseas to troops separated from their families during the holiday season.
Macomb County Commissioner Kathy Vosburg of Chesterfield and Jarvis Property Restoration are sponsoring a gift drive from now until Jan. 15. People may donate items from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at Jarvis Property Restoration’s building located at 41800 Executive Drive in Harrison Township. Items needed include new socks, playing cards, travel pillows, hand warmers, coffee, hot chocolate, foam sports balls, hand sanitizer, candy, and more.
“We are doing this project through The Desert Angel project. It is a group that will accept these boxes and ship them to troops overseas. We want our brave servicemen and servicewomen to know that we are thinking about them back home during the holiday season,” said Vosburg.
Volunteers are needed to pack gift boxes to be sent to troops. The packing will take place at Jarvis Property Construction’s building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 16.
